Poway and San Diego, CA
At Smiles by Dr. Cook, we employ sophisticated monitoring devices and equipment, such as digital x-rays, to help make your experience easier, and to aid in diagnostics. Being able to view images by digital x-ray allows us to see problems that could otherwise not be identified by a visual exam.
What is a digital x-ray?
Digital x-rays capture images by using sensors instead of traditional photographic film. Since digital x-rays are transferred to a computer for viewing, we save time by avoiding the need to develop x-ray film. Plus, digital x-rays provide images that are more enhanced.
Are digital x-rays safe?
Yes! In fact, digital x-rays emit nearly 90 percent less radiation than traditional film x-rays. Although traditional film x-rays are still generally safe, digital x-rays are ideal when multiple x-rays are needed.
Why does my dentist use digital x-rays?
Digital x-rays are commonly used for diagnostic purposes. The images provided by digital x-rays allow us to see bone, tooth roots, and areas of the tooth or abnormalities that cannot be seen just by looking inside your mouth. Digital x-rays can also help us develop the most effective treatment plan for you. Ultimately, digital x-rays allow us to provide you with the best treatment possible.
